Engagement sessions are my absolute favorite thing to shoot.  When I get to see how two people really love each other I can't help but fall in love with my work.  Often I'll put two people into a pose, say something very simple like "I want you to almost kiss your new fiancé" and the rest just happens.  They can't resist feeling each other's breath and slightly touching lips.  The pure love and light they bring into the image is astounding.  The smiles are real, the emotion is real, and the love is pure.

Utah has some of the absolute best places to shoot in the world.  From the Great Salt Lake, to Downtown Salt Lake City, to the numerous canyons throughout the state, it’s hard to go wrong.  I always tell people that twenty minutes in any direction is totally unique and just incredibly beautiful. Check out Lindsey and Jeff’s engagement sessions compared to their bridal session and you’ll see that they’re totally different, but both perfect in every way.

-Quick tips-

Bring one formal outfit, and one casual outfit to your engagement session. We’ll get the playful side of you two in your casual outfit, and then we can do more traditional photos in your formal outfit! That way we can get more verity to make your session just that much better.

When selecting locations for your photos, think about adding verity to your photos by choosing two totally different locations. You should also think about what is going to look good while displayed at your wedding venue, and what will look good in your home.

Bridal pictures should be some of the most beautiful pictures of the entire wedding package.  I want the bride to feel like she's never been more beautiful in her entire life.  That's why I've networked with some of the most talented people to do professional hair and makeup if desired.  When the light hits you just right, every detail will be a reflection of your true elegance and beauty.

Should my fiancé be invited?

The answer is that it is up to you.  Some people prefer to stay with traditional and have the groom wait until the wedding day to see the dress.  Some want pictures with their loved one to display on the wedding day.  If you decide to invite your fiancé, we will make sure to get pictures of you, your groom, and of course the two of you together.

Working with a professional photographer brings many benefits. I’ve networked with some of the most talented people to get you professional hair and make-up at a discounted rate.If you'd like to get your hair and makeup done professionally I have many connections that can do it for you at a discounted rate.  Makeup can be tricky with photography, especially since we're going to be taking some close-up portraits.  Feel free to contact me for recommendations or tips.

Tips on what to bring

While we're shooting there are a couple of things you may want to bring.  For example, shoes to walk around in as we walk from spot to spot, hair spray, bouquet, vail, touch-up makeup, and someone to help carry everything!  That can be provided if needed. Also, showing up early to put your dress on and to do touch ups is always a good idea. If we can start shooting exactly when your session starts, then we’ll be able to maximize the quality of your session overall.

Here I've set up a gallery of images so you know what to expect from a wedding day.  I strive to capture everything from the small details to the big events so you can remember just how perfect your first day as husband and wife was.  Throughout the day I will work closely with you to make sure I capture every perfect detail.  I want you to fall in love with the pictures that will forever remind you just how much you love each other.

Before the wedding day

To ensure a picture-perfect wedding day perfect I always do a consultation.   I like to get an idea of your personalities, get the agenda for the day, and talk about any questions you may have so I can capture all the moments you want to remember.

On The Wedding Day

Take a break. Wedding days can be stressful, professionals keep that to a minimum by directing people for pictures and ensuring you don't have to worry about a thing.  I'll be there gathering the group, while capture tender moments between family, friends, and of course you, the happy couple!

When I show up to shoot a wedding I have one main objective. Tell the story of their wedding without any words. I want to be able to hand you a wedding album, and for a complete stranger to be able to look through that album and see exactly how your wedding day was. Instead of a collection of random pictures, I want to capture the big picture, and the small pictures to make it memorable. Detail shots like the cake, the flowers, the decorations, the venue, who was there, and things like that will complement the big picture of you two! Every couple has a story, and this is yours. Let’s tell it.

While I do specialize in posed photography, I love seeing thing build organically. Sometimes I will pose every joint in your body, and sometimes I’ll give you a scenario to watch how you two create a moment. While I love building a composition, I also love something raw and real. Every couple is unique, and I want to capture that!
